Lago Update –BLAH!!!

An Unskilled Bartender

Wanted to return to this place again because it was one of our favorites last year.  It is an Italian restaurant in the Common Man group and was a great surprise when we first came.  Great drinks and wonderful atmosphere.  Our intention this time was a full meal and evening of drinks.  Starting with the drinks, we knew something was wrong.  I ordered a scotch and coke.  While I ordered a single, it came back a triple!!!  Maybe I’m not used to the portions here in America, but I don’t remember having a tumbler sized glass filled to the brim with scotch and ice. Some people might think this is value for money, but I wanted a nice tasting drink.  This was strong.  My girlfriend ordered her favorite, a cosmopolitan.  It was wrong.  Hard to pinpoint how it was wrong.  There are a lot of ways to get it wrong.  And they did.  Then came the food.  We order mussels that were tasty, but not special.  Then I had a chicken pasta that had no taste at all.  Bland bland bland.  Lastly, they served us bread with olive oil and SALT!  Now I’m open to new things so I tried it.  Didn’t work.  Is that an old, Italian tradition?  Not my thing.  I was disappointed.  Maybe it was a bad night.  It’s such a good location and feels so nice inside, I’m bound to give it another try…but just one more.
