“Shackistan” is a four-bedroom privately-owned vacation home in Suissevale by Lake Winnipesaukee.  Unlike many rental vacation homes (often furnished with shabby old furniture), a great deal of care was taken in putting Shackistan’s newly-renovated rooms together.

The house’s interiors are tasteful and relaxed, and makes for a nice, peaceful stay. With wi-fi Internet access, a brand new flatscreen television, cable TV and over a hundred DVDs, it’s easy to spend your days just lazing around.

A centerpiece of the house is a working gas stove in the living room, which is great to sit beside on cold mornings. The newly-refurbished kitchen is stocked with everything a renter needs to prepare their own meals (and do the laundry). A gas-powered barbecue can be used for outdoor cook-outs.

In the garden, there’s a fire pit—great for marshmallow roasts! Overlooking the garden, there’s  a screen porch where you can enjoy the outdoors bug-free.  For many people who’ve stayed at the house, the screen porch is a favorite room, and they spend a good amount of their time having meals there, chatting or playing board games.

Perhaps the best part of the home is its nearness to Suissevale beach. There’s no need to drive over and look for parking–the shoreline is a quick one-minute walk from the house, and there’s even a little wagon for renters to pull their beach gear in. Shackistan is a relaxing, convenient  base for a New Hampshire beach holiday.
